Breeders' Cup Classic contender David Junior will be right at home on the Churchill Downs dirt, according to Brian Meehan's assistant Jane Allison.
Having emerged from quarantine following his journey from England on Sunday, the Coral-Eclipse hero got his first look at the Kentucky racecourse on Tuesday along with Meehan's Breeders' Cup Turf hope Red Rocks.
With David Junior preparing to take on American superstars Bernardini and Lava Man, as well as the likes of George Washington in Saturday's
5million main event, Allison is adamant the four-year-old will be unfazed by the switch from turf to dirt.
"He trains on a Polytrack all the time at home and he was bought from the breeder at Calder, where they have the all-weather track so he's used to it," Allison said.
"He's in good form and done everything that's been asked of him.
"Both were just trotting on Tuesday, but David Junior did much more than Red Rocks.
"The boss arrives on Tuesday night and he'll give them a three-furlong canter on Wednesday morning, but nothing too much.
"But they're both in good form and they travelled well."
