nov 3 - todd hopes cotton can blossom

Adhrhythm: - Centaur Farm's homebred filly Adhrhythm jogged at Churchill Downs on Friday morning. Trainer Eddie Plesa, Jr. arrived into town Thursday and was at the barn.

"She's been in command of her last three races," he said. "She's got the right running style. There'll be some speed in there and we'll drop behind it and stalk. Hopefully, midway down the stretch, they'll be calling her name. Getting (jockey) Edgar (Prado) is a boost.

"You could run this race ten different times and probably have seven different winners," Plesa added.

"The owner (Vernon Heath) certainly deserves the opportunity to run in the Breeders' Cup. She is a true homebred...he bred and raced the sire and dam, too," said Plesa.

Appealing Zophie: - The Spinaway winner galloped 1 m in her final preparations for the Juvenile Fillies and trainer Scott Blasi remains very pleased with how she is doing.

When asked what he's learned from coming to the Breeders' Cup in previous years as top assistant to Steve Asmussen, he replied, "You have to have a very, very fast horse. Appealing Zophie has always been very, very special and we're confident in her."

Bel Air Beauty: - The Alcibiades winner galloped 1 m on Friday, one day before making her third career start in the Juvenile Fillies.

"She's feeling great," said assistant trainer and exercise rider Lisa Sloan. "If it gets any colder, I'm not going to able to ride her. She loves this weather."

When asked how he would like to see the race shape up, trainer Frank Brothers said "It's a 14-horse field of very young horses. I just hope for a clean trip."

Cash Included: - Trainer Craig Dollase expressed enthusiasm for the training of his Oak Leaf winner as she heads into Saturday's Juvenile Fillies race at 1 1/16 m. The 2yo daughter of Include galloped 1 ¼ m over the Churchill Downs track Friday morning.

The trainer is leaving race strategy to jockey Corey Nakatani, but said he expects the filly to be prominently placed in the early going.

Cotton Blossom: - Like others who raced last on Keeneland's Polytrack, the Broken Vow filly is getting a pass for her last race from trainer Todd Pletcher.

"If we knew then what we know now, the horses we ran at Keeneland would have been ridden differently," Pletcher said. "She's a nice filly who has trained well for what I believe is the most wide-open race on the card."

Dreaming of Anna: - Frank Calabrese's homebred Dreaming of Anna galloped 1m under exercise rider Carlos Alicea on Friday morning.

The 4-1 second choice on the morning line will break from post one and be ridden by Rene Douglas for trainer Wayne Catalano.

"I'd like to see her get a sharp break and see what unfolds from there," said Catalano.

Gatorize - The Helen Pitts trainee galloped 1 ½ m Friday.

The trainer, who was Ken McPeek's assistant before going out on her own about a year-and-a-half ago, said deciding Gatorize belonged with the best horses was a gradual process.

"She proved herself. She ran two nice races (a maiden special weight victory and a win in an optional claimer) and then ran well (fifth) in the Alcibiades," she said.

"You just kind of hope you get lucky."

Her Majesty: - Her Majesty, a 10-1 shot, shipped from Keeneland Friday morning with trainer Patrick Biancone's other three Breeders' Cup starters (Gorella, Mauralakana and Asi Siempre). They settled into the Churchill Downs stakes barn (17) about 7 a.m. and headed out to the track soon after.

The four walked to the paddock with an exercise pony, schooled there about 10 minutes and then jogged 1 ¼ m.

Lilly Carson - Trainer Ralph Nicks, the former top assistant to Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott, sent his first Breeders' Cup starter to the track for a 1 ½ m gallop.

When asked if his experience with Mott, has helped prepare him for this week, he responded "I think it's helped me probably the most. It's keeping me from getting too rattled at this early stage in my career."

Nicks worked for Mott during the years of all his champions except Theatrical, including 1995 Classic winner and Horse of the Year Cigar.

Octave: - "She has been training great," said trainer Todd Pletcher. "She had a very strong race in the Matron and she should move forward off that race."

Octave, a daughter of 1995 Juvenile winner Unbridled's Song, galloped 1 ¼m Friday.

Quick Little Miss: - Annabelle Stute and The Hat Ranch's Quick Little Miss breezed through the stretch under exercise rider Edmundo Gonzalez for trainer Mel Stute.

"She looked very good and the boy said she handled the track well," Stute said of the daughter of Freud, who will break from post 13 under Jon Court. "My only real concern now is the weather, with the cold, because she does not have her winter coat."

The veteran conditioner was asked how he would like to see things unfold Saturday for Quick Little Miss.

"I hope the front-runners get a little late in the stretch, because I believe she will come running," Stute said. "That is what she has done the last two or three times."

Satulagi: - The Kentucky-bred daughter of Officer just walked the shedrow Friday morning, a day after she breezed 4f in 50 4/5 from the starting gate.

"We decided to give her an easy morning," said trainer Stan Moore. "She's finished her work."

This will be the first start on dirt for Satulagi, who is the most experienced of all the runners in the Juvenile Fillies with nine starts this year. However, she made her debut on the all-weather track at Lingfield on March and ran well to be third.

She's Included: - The bay filly was out on Friday morning at Churchill Downs, going for a 1 ½ m gallop on the main track shortly after it opened at 6 a.m. Trainer Christopher Paasch had exercise rider Jose Valcso up for the activity.

The daughter of the Broad Brush sire Include drew post five for the 1 1/16 m race Saturday and will be partnered for the first time by Victor Espinoza.

Sutra: - Oak Crest Farm's homebred Sutra visited the paddock and then galloped 1 ¼ m under exercise rider Rolando Rodriguez. Trainer Michael Stidham planned to take Sutra back to the paddock with the runners in Friday's fourth race.

Stidham was asked what he would like to see unfold for Sutra on Saturday as she shoots for her third victory in four starts.

"We are looking for a lot of pace in front of us, just like we have had in the past, and get our filly to settle," Stidham said. "The first time going around two turns, she needs to settle around the first turn and get good position down the backside and hope we run into a fast pace."

Mike Luzzi has the mount on Sutra, who will break from post two.
